I bought a used car from dealership in august and it past 90 days at present only have not received registration nor plate number all the same. Now my temporary registration is expired. Called to DMV. They said that your dealer have not sent documents nonetheless and that's why they are non in the arrangement. Got to Dealer!!!
Before the expiration of registration chosen to the dealer multiple times but getting excuses that allegedly, it took him long time to get the title from the previous owner and that's why made him to delay the the procedure of submitting the documents to the DMV.
Does this hateful that I will non exist able to drive until my original registration come up?
What measures can I accept

How could he sell a motorcar without having the championship from the previous possessor in hand? What kind of a dealership is that? Sounds pretty sketchy. Ane solution of friend of mine has used a couple of times is to contact the State Chaser General'south office. I don't know nearly CA, but in other states, that gets results fairly promptly. I would also go to the dealership in person to speak to the possessor or director to demand resolution, or say y'all want your money back and he can have his auto. Encounter what happens. The att'y general would want to know what attempts you've made to resolve the issue, anyway.

This tin can be a mutual practice--the dealer sells a car that'due south not paid off however, uses your money to pay it off and so needs to look for the title.

Call the dealership--ask to speak to the DMV CLERK. Tell the clerk that it's past 90 days and she/he needs to issue you a Temporary Operating Allow. If they try to tell you that yous need to get it from DMV, remind them that they haven't turned in the paperwork yet, and then you cannot become them from DMV.

If the dealership doesn't desire to do that, tell them yous will be filing a Failure to Transfer complaint with the DMV Investigator.

If you continue to accept problems, follow through. Print out the DMV Complaint Grade linked beneath and mail it in. Even if your problem finally gets resolved, the DMV won't know that dealers are not doing the right thing unless people tell them.

Thanks for detailed data and suggestions! They really helped to resolve my problem

I did receive my permanent registration 3 days subsequently my temporary registration was expired. Merely before I went to a dealer maxim either he is giving my money back or I'm reporting to DMV Failure to Transfer form. He promised that he is gonna take the registration from the DMV tomorrow and that he would drop the registration to my house that 24-hour interval. Which he did.

This very same thing happened to me. They sold you a machine they did not have title. I searched the cyberspace and discovered my dealer was in fiscal trouble. If you paid any amount with a credit card, immediately notify the CC company and file a dispute. I fortunately got my money back considering no ane was working at the dealership to dispute the claim so after xxx days, I got my deposit dorsum.
The dealer eventually filed for bankruptcy and hundreds of buyers got caught with payments merely no registration or title. Mine took three years to get a clear championship. You may have to purchase a personal surety bond and the state volition issue a disputed title and yous will get a clear title afterward three years. I heard that the dealer'southward just association with cars now is making license plates in prison.
Call the CA attorney general'southward office dealer fraud division. DO Not WAIT!

A co-worker bought a certified used Toyota from a Toyota Dealer and almost a year to become it straightened out.

She was complacent and had never bought a machine earlier.

The Dealership said paperwork submitted and DMV said no.

I contacted the State for her and a few days subsequently she got a call from the Dealership proverb they had her plates ready for pick upwardly...
